They are usually testing for Chymidia and HPV unless you specify differently.

Multiple levels to this answer. First, a PAP smear is usually looking for abnormalities caused by HPV (Human Papillomovirus)- which is an STD, and which increases your risk of developing cervical cancer. Second, when the result comes back, the report will also note if there are a few other things- such as Trichomonas (an STD), Candida (yeast infection, not an STD), or Bacterial Vaginosis (not an STD). Third, it is routine to also get a separate Chlamydia test at the same time as the PAP in any sexually active female, however- not 100% of docs do this. Some also screen for Gonorrhea at the same time.
So my advice: 1. Ask your doc exactly what they are testing for; 2. If you want additional STD tests (eg HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis) - you need to ask your doctor for that since those are blood tests. 3. Understand that you might not have symptoms of these STDs, so make sure to get screened if you've been sexually active and not using protection (unless you are in a long term monogomous relationship).
Be safe out there kids...

No unless you or the doctor thinks that you may have one!! In which case the doctor will take 2 smear tests since they need to be tested seperately!
