It could be an antibiotic resistant bacteria causing the infection. You may have allergies, asthma is a possibility. Lung cancer is of course a possibility especially if you smoke or are an ex smoker. You need to get checked out by a different doctor and ask for a chest referral;

I wonder do you have asthma? I'm asthmatic and what you have sounds like the dose I got recently. I caught a cold that cleared up fairly quickly but left me with breathlessness and a cough. I didn't have a chest infection as such and so wasn't prescribed antibiotics but anti-inflammatories.

Don't read any more medical websites. All they're good for is needlessly alarming you.

Also, go see a different doctor and tell them you don't want any more antibiotics. The only thing they're good for in the aftermath of a flu is for clearing up chest infections. Also, tell them you think you have lung cancer and get them to check it out for you. Thinking about it will drive you nuts. Do something about it.

you've probably got or had a slight chest infection or maybe asthma. Go to another doctors, get a second opinion and get urself checked out again explain how worried you are. I've always had a weak chest getting chest infections at least once a year. I went to my doctors al the time and all i got was antibiotics and fobbed off that there was nothing he cud do. Went to another doctor who told me i had asthma. That was a year ago now and i havent had a chest infection since.

it's allergy perhaps.but to be sure, why don't you have a chest xray to rule out possibility of pulmonary tuberculosis. are you a smoker?? that maybe chronic bronchitis. don't think about cancer yet.

Darren

Provided that you are seeking regular medical advice that is ok. Please don't be tempted to read up on related conditions comparing symptoms etc. You'll end up making yourself worse. If you think that your GP is missing something ask him to refer you to a physician.

Best wishes, J
