Seemed to linger. It has been about a month and a half and I am still feeling a tightness in my chest and am still coughing . I also feel short of breath, but not too bad. Help?

The tightness I feel is not typical of bronchitis.

Sounds like an upper respiratory infection.

ok I was like 60 pounds overweight . Doctor did not say anything. If you are healthy otherwise, I would gain at least 17 to 20 pounds. The baby will gain weight even if you don't try to the placenta and the baby and everything gains weight. Your doctor is an *** for saying don't gain weight you have to the baby need s to be healthy just stay somewhere in that target range but don't diet and don't exercise heavy just light walking will do. I have not changed the amount of food I ate before and I am 6 months . I have gained 10 pounds already but I am a junkie for candy and stuff. But if your conserend just eat healthy and exercise you will be fine. Forget you doctor listen to the fact that your baby will put on the weight even if you don't want it to. I wish you all the best.

Jeez we have a hospital full of patients with varying degrees of what you describe. Sinusitis is not a disease per se. It is an inflammation of the nasal tract and/sinuses but it is easy to understand such a description so it is used regularly. My guess is you also have bronchitis which is an inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. Would answer the shortness of breath and coughing. My opinion is that you should go back to your doc and describe your symptoms. He/she will readdress the problems you are having and perhaps give another round of anti B's and/or something to allow you to breathe easier. Good luck. I know it doesn't feel like it now but you will feel better.

If your doctor diagnosed sinusitis, your symptoms are typical for this infection. Your sinuses become swollen and produce a light or heavy mucus. the inflammation will make your head and face hurt and the mucus migrates to your lungs via post nasal drip. Your lungs hate that, and produce a cough to get rid of it. the cough makes your chest muscles sore. Take all your antibiotics but be aware that if it is a viral sinus infection the antibiotics will not help. the key is to stop the post nasal drip. Take something like Sudafed (Pseudoephedrine) along with your antibiotics to dry up the drip. Drink plenty of water to thin the mucus and if it is really thick, take something like mucinex (Guaifenesin) to thin it out. You should also know that sinus infections can recur or be difficult to get rid of. See your dr. again to get another round of antibiotics if it is bacterial. If he says it is viral then have him give you a decongestant and a cough suppressant. Make your appointment ASAP. good luck

I think you need to see another doctor. I believe you may have either bronchitis or asthma. Either way, you need someone who knows what they are doing to diagnose you properly.

Sinusitis doesn't come with shortness of breath and tightness in your chest.

Make sure you keep warm, cover your mouth and nose when you go out in the cold, and stay away from anything that will aggravate your lungs, like smoke or dust.

You should go back to the doctor!!! Why haven't you already? Sinusitus can cause brain damage and infections in your lungs if you go to long with out taking care of it you could need surgery! I would make an appointment ASAP if I was you. That's what happened to my uncle, he waited too long and had to have sinus surgery and was in the hospital for over a weak because he got a lung infection.

I get sinusitis like the common cold. Your coughing because of the post nasal drip - it's irritating your throat. Your chest hurts because you're coughing so much.

It takes a while to get over. Follow your Dr's directions and be sure to take ALL the meds he gives you.

Get better soon!

You should see your doctor again--it might have been sinusitis back then, and now has become bronchitis--or even the flu or a bad cold.
