are the molecules chemically related in any way? Is the physiologic mechanism of increased appetite similar?

They're entirley different classes of meds, so they are not chemically related, except that they are both based on a chemical structure referred to as a carbon ring. Then again, all organic chemistry is based on a carbon ring.

Further, insulin does not necessarily increase appetite.
