Both glycerin and mono/di-glycerides can be derived from either plant or animal sources. The only way to be sure is to email/check the website of/phone/whatever the company that makes the product.

If the product says "vegetarian" or "vegan" on the label, though, then they're from plant sources.

To answer the second half of your question, though, if they are from animals, they're from the fat of pigs and cows.

I am never going to eat gelatin anymore... it is the most disgusting thing in this world....boiled bones!!!! ewww. I want to know where glycerin comes from too............email if you know? yes? thanks/1
