Why does the right side of the heart have a three cusp valve when the left only has two?

I was wondering this because you would think that the left side would need 3 cusps to get blood around the systemic circuit.

Nobody knows for sure, but the current thinking leads towards it being an artifact of fetal development.

It was a weekend when God designed the heart, and the 3 cusp valve bin was short, and he didn't want to pay for a second-day shipment so He said "oh, hell, this 2 cusper will work".
