Not smelling, having more cash, living longer

I haven't had a cigarette now for 11 days and for the first 5 days or so I felt okay, I missed the action of doing a chore at home knowing that afterwards I was going to make a cup of tea and go out for a cigarette (No smoking in my house!)

After the 5 days I still miss the 'something to look forward to after working hard' cigarette and cup of tea but I have started to feel really ill. My sinuses feel blocked, I keep getting headaches, I feel sick and dizzy, I'm coughing, my chest hurts. I guess it sounds that I've got a cold or an infection or something but it's all slight, all the symptoms aren't severe, they're just annoying. I'm also irritable but I know that I've just got to keep going and I WILL feel so much better in the long run.

I've already noticed that I have more energy and of course I don't smell of smoke!

If you're thinking of giving it up just do it, be strong!! It's hard work but totally satisfying and you will be so much more better off in the end.

I've been smoking for 16 years and when I worked that out the other day I felt sick.

When you try to quit smoking your nicotine dependency will use your sub conscious mind to break your self control, and to make you smoke "just one more", which is usually the start of the smoking again.
Most people don't realise that their smoking can produce a split personality complex, and the nicotine-loving one is often the strongest! It will find any excuse for the smoker to smoke with, for example, sweet coffee, beer, spirits and bad news.
Control these urges and program your mind to convince your other inner-self to "be on your side".
The best piece of advice is to use the nicotine patches or gum, but also to completely change your life habits. This might upset your peers and dear ones, but it's your life and health at risk! It might even mean a job or social change, but you will benefit in the short and long term.
Remember, only a nonsmoker realises how much a smoker stinks! It's no use washing everyday when, with one puff, you and your friends and loved ones can begin to pong something awful!
Now, your other inner-self on hearing this is saying, "What nonsense, it's only the usual health service diatribe". Do yourself a big favour, any smokers out there, re join a healthy life span. Good Luck!

Some of the common side effects of stopping smoking include...

1) The ability to breathe easily.
2) To be able to jog around the block without thinking you are dying.
3) Not feeling like you have a lead weight on your chest first thing in the morning.
4) Being able to taste your food once again.
5) Smelling the roses in the summer.
6) Having more money in your pocket than ever before.

... Oh and putting on a little weight!

Have just given up smoking myself (since new year). My side effects have been having really weird dreams, night sweats, being moody, thirsty in the night and have developed a cough that I never had as a smoker. Have started using the patches. Wow. They are fab.

Its almost the same side of affects if you were trying to quit drugs!! You get the shakes, headaches, cravings, and really grumpy but after a couple of weeks this will go away... remember its takes 21 days to create a habit.

Positive side effects are that your sense of smell and taste improve and you become more alert. Also found I got pins and needles in my arms for a while as my circulation started to improve. I am also able to enjoy exercise which was something I avoided before.

Your sex life will get better as tobacco drains blood from the outer layer of skin. You will become more sensitive to touch.
You will breathe more easily. You and your clothes will not smell like an ashtray. You will cough up mucus as the minute hairs(cilia) on your lungs will grow again and collect mucus. Try not to spit in public. You will have your sense of smell back again. You will have more stamina as your lungs will be able to absorb more oxygen to give you staying power. Last but not least, you will have more money!
