July 1...but that's the middle of the year, and with global warming (allegedly) up and running, the English will not be too bothered until the weather starts to get a bit sharp - id est; early December. The Jan 1 2006 ban in Spain went without hitch, as there were still ale-houses and restaurants where you could have your cafe con leche, with a puff or two. Suspect, when Autumn is in it's last days, then the circus might begin.

Dundee...was it a case of trying things out on the Scots first to see how it'd go. And indeed - how has it gone?

Good luck to ye with the smoking ban. It started in Ireland 2 years ago and it's the best thing ever for us non smokers. It also prompted some smokers to give up, never a bad thing. The people who do still smoke don't mind it too much either as they can meet other smokers in the smoking areas outside. It's even given rise to Smirting (smoking and flirting)
