I just recently found out that the first girl I was with has a type of HPV that causes genital warts. She was the first girl I ever had intercourse with and she never told me before. Now, 3 months later she tells me. We only ever had intercourse 3 times (it was in one night) and after that we ended up parting ways. All the times we had intercourse were protected by a condom. I'm a boxer and very anxious about my health, and this is driving me nuts. She told me she wasn't on an outbreak, and the area they are on were only touched by the condom, what are the chances that I could have it? And if they are pretty big, could the ER give me a test that would tell me? I've shown no signs that I've read and it's been slightly over three months. My current girl friend is wanting to have intercourse and we haven't, and I definately wouldn't want to before I knew.

Whoever said if you test clean for HPV means that you are clean and can't pass it on is an idiot. THERE IS NO WAY TO TEST MEN FOR HPV! This is why it is so hard to tell where it came from. I was with my boyfriend for two years...never slept with anyone else, never cheated on him, go to the doc....I have HPV. Not just the kind the causes genital warts, the strain that causes cervical cancer, and it was already forming. I had to have part of my cervix burned off with a thin metal red hot instrument. I was in severe pain for 48 hours afterwards, curled in a ball bawling because the pain was so severe. If I would not have had the surgery i would have gotten cervical CANCER. CANCER IS NOTHING TO SCREW AROUND WITH. Be honest with your girlfriend, tell her you may have been exposed. If you put her through the pain I went through she will never speak to you again. Don't make my ex's mistakes. Be smart about your sexual health, always use a condom. Go to your doctor and get more information about HPV, if you ever develop a wart, get it removed.

You are absolutely right to have questioned this and I commend you on abstaining till you get your answer. If you wore a condom, you more than likely do not have genital warts...which is what HPV is...even if it was on her cervix. There is no blood test that will tell you this, but the wart itself reminds me of a tiny light pink raspberry. It is quite obvious. To be sure you are not infected, go to the STD clinic of your local public health department and have them check you out. Also have them run tests for the other STDs that this young lady may not have told you about...better be safe than sorry.

the condoms probably protected you. if she told you she had it; it's highly probable she still did and HPV isn't like herpes were it's only transmittable during an out brake. you would notice warts on your penis if you did have it but i'm not sure how long it takes for them to show up after exposure. the warts are treated with a drug called pedophillan which works kind of like any other wart remover and it takes several trips to the doc to get rid of them. get checked by your doc but be grateful for the condoms. you sound like a real decent guy and i hope the best for you.

There is a possibility that you have it. However, the test for HPV isn't very accurate. In fact if you ever had a wart anywhere on your body, it will show positive. See a doctor. Don't even think about doing it with your current girlfriend. It wouldn't be nice.

Most likely you do have it, but the consequences aren't as bad if men get HPV they usually get no symptoms, but some prostate problems can occur but its usually more common in men that havent been circumcised. As of right now there is no preventive vaccine for men.

condoms dramatically reduce your risk of conracting it, so your probably clean, especially because its been mmonths but you should visit your DOCTOR, not the ER. The doctor can help you and test you. you should be seeing a doctor regularly anyways if your having sex

hey don't worry so much, most likely you don't have it and if you do which 90% of men do (that's how women get it) because they are the ones that carry the hpv nothing major really happens to men compared to women that can get cervical cancer.
