the std that causes cervical cancer is called HPV or human papilloma virus. Since it is a virus, there is no treatment for it. So, unless she had surgery to remove the cancer which also removed the tissue affected by the virus, or unless her own immune system eliminated it, she probably still has remnants of the virus, which means that you could have been exposed. You can go and get a test done to see if you have been exposed. If you have not been exposed and are under 26 years old, a new vaccine for HPV has just been released. It prevents HPV, genital warts and cervical cancer. good luck

She had cervical cancer? Bes thing would be for you and him to get checked out, see your gyno about the tests. If either one of you has an STD the person affected should get treated before you resume having sex again so you don't keep re-infecting each other. Most STDs are easily curable by antibiotics.

Look, you are always at risk for STD. you don't know what kind of STD it was or if she had another. Example: Herpes - even if no symptoms show one may have it. then she would've spreaded it to your guy, then potentially to you. all without knowing she had it. of course, this is hypothetical, but it illustrates that you just never know. best thing - use protection. of course you can also abstain - wait, it's the new millineum now, no such thing.

If your boyfriend slept with someone who had an STD, you are at risk. Use a condom.

Since cervical cancer is caused by a virus (HPV), there is no way to get rid of it. If your boyfriend had unprotected sex with his exgirlfriend, then it is almost certain that he now has that strain of HPV, and if you had unprotected sex with him, you are almost certain to have it. You need to get tested, and since there is no cure, you need to be very vigilant about getting pap smears.
