Don't pay attention to what they say, do your own thing, if they don't like it too bad. Be patient with everyone, your trying a new thing, and they're probably thinking a life without meat is disgusting. My friend's were never suportive because they thought I was gonna forget about the whole vegetarian thing after a couple of months, but i didn't, I've stuck to it. I make my own food, and my friends realize i'm serious, and even though I realize they will never try being vegetarian, they are very supportive of me now. Your meat-eating friends will come around soon enough or forget that you don't eat meat. Just be patient.

Don't let them make you feel ashamed of your ethics! All vegetarians and vegans have been there. I think that it's so important to find some vegan friends to vent to, and share recipes with :-) If you're nervous about asking a server in a restaurant about the ingredients in your dish, try to see if the restaurant has a website first. A lot of times, they have a menu and an ingredient list. If they aren't online, you can try to call them first and find out before you go if they have anything that's veg friendly. You can also ask them to alter things to exclude the animal products. It does require a little more work, but will allow you to live by your principles! I hope this helps!

We're here and we feel your pain. :) I know, it SUCKS. My friends are totally non-supportive too... even though whenever I have them over for dinner, they actually LIKE what I make. It's funny too, cuz my friends are VERY open-minded about other things, but TOTALLY closed-minded about not eating dead animals. Go figure.

Don't give up! come on over to my place and we'll have a veggie feast! squash risotto...veggie burritos...yummy soup...stir fry! if you are younger, you will meet more and more veggies as you get older and are in the culture. If you live in a smaller town, it gets much easier in towns that are bigger. some cities are super veggie friendly like where i live in Portland, Oregon.
