Okay, get some plastic wine glasses, freeze some
raspberries or other red fruit and put them in the glasses with water or white grape juice, or even sparkling apple juice.

You're having a "very fancy" Valentine's party for a 4 year old? Seriously? I'm going to say that a 4 year old will be thrilled with a cupcake and some construction paper. No need to go wasting money and time on something they won't even remember.

This is hard for you I am sure, I could not do it, I am sure I could but how many glasses of wine later, ask children's parents what they their children enjoy, lets see heres a big one, we bought sugar cookies and let the kids apply the frosting and sugar sprinkles, they could red frosting and its premade, give them their chance to understand V Day in another way, buy heart confetti, a few dozen balloons, let them know it isn't just for big people, find someone to supervise while you enjoy adult time, they could make their own valentines, do a valentine scavenger hunt or egg hunt, red hard boiled eggs, do marshmallow rice crispy treat, red of course, stay away from paint, markers, artsy stuff get them a movie that always works. Do what s fit for your children's personality my son is 5 and honestly hes like me never stops talking always has the little mind going and too much sugar isnt good a little story time, away from adults, toys, movie, life is good

In my opinion, a 4 year old would not notice if it was fancy or not...They would enjoy something more on their level. A theme like " "fairy Princess" if a girl...or "Sponge Bob" or "Thomas the train" for a boy..with Valentine candy as part of the table decoration....at that age they are more impressionable.

Keep it simple for a young child...and it will also be easier for you!

Nothing like heart shaped food....shape some hamburger into heart shapes.....serve it with macaroni and cheese...all kids love that or most do! Make some strawberry or cherry jello and serve it layered with cool whip or whipped creme...and chocolate shavings on top....in a medium to tall glass...make some heart shaped cookies ahead of time and freeze them for the 14th.

They love games and mixing with their friends....take lots of pictures you will enjoy the smiles in years to come!
Happy Valentines...to you and yours...

This will be most exciting for your 4 yr old. I would just suggest using plastic fancy drink ware instead of your finest crystal, that will cost a arm and leg to replace. And remember you do not have to go overboard to please children. Be fancy and use color, color always impress children. Just keep it simple and manageable for you, children her age have no idea about formal, and fancy to them is putting on old, or new hats with sparkles, with boas wrapped around their neck. I hope the 2 of you have fun with your party...sounds fun

Maybe, chocolate covered strawberries, and over the chocolate put white chocolate smiley faces on them or something? Cheese and Crackers? Something we make in my family for an appetizer at parties are ham rolls, you take polish ham sliced thin and spread cream cheese on them, then put a green onion and roll it up. Cut into little rolls. ( we make ones with just crm cheese bc a lot of kids dont like onions) they look nice but theyre very good tasting too! maybe put fansy toothpicks in them?

Maybe have some construction paper, glitter, glue, crayons, and little beads so they can make Valentines for someone. Bake heart shaped cookies and let them decorate the cookies.
