Vegans stay away from not only eating any living, moving animal, but they also refuse to use any other products that may have derived directly or indirectly from animals. Most vegans don't even eat honey since it is created by bees.

Both vegans and vegetarians avoid seafood. Animals from the sea are still animals, therefore vegetarians don't eat them. And fish in particular have been shown to have extraordinarily developed nervous systems - as do lobsters and some other "seafood" animals.
The harvesting of "seafood" also entails much more than boat, net, shrimp. Those nets, fishing lines, and cast off fishing equipment are responsible for killing a number of "cute" animals like manatees, dolphins, whales, seals, sea lions, and by-catch fish and animal species (non-targeted animals that were accidentally caught and discarded). "Dolphin Safe" only means that the number of dolphins caught are under the allowable limit. This means that if that limit is 20, that they caught 20 or less.
As far as the videos, it's far more moving to show a cow staggering around with it's throat sliced open and it's esophagus hanging out than it is to show a fish being butchered alive or suffocating. We are desensitized to killing fish so the videos aren't effective for 'shock' value. We are so far removed from the anatomy of a fish and it can't scream, so we just can't relate.

I did not become a vegan or vegetarian due to PETA. I rarely even listen to PETA's messages. I became a vegan due to my ethical concern for animals, the environment, and human health: 1) sea life is NOT "seafood" to me...they suffer and die in much the same way as other land-based animals; 2)the environment is also being destroyed by over-fishing; and 3) the oceans are basically the world's "kidneys" and animals which live in waterways are the most polluted animals around (so not good for human health).

vegans avoid seafood because fish is flesh and flesh is meat. end of story.
PETA does focus on cows, chickens, pigs, etc but they do have a website for fish and they have some videos about fish too. check them out.

some vegetarians do eat seafood there are different types of vegetarian and seafood is not poultry
Poultry
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Ducks amongst other poultry
The Poultry-dealer, after Cesare Vecellio.Poultry is the class of domesticated fowl (birds) used for food or for their eggs and sometimes their feet. These most typically are members of the orders Galliformes (such as chickens and turkeys), and Anseriformes (waterfowl such as ducks and geese).
The word poultry is often used to refer to the meat of these birds. In a more general sense, it may refer to the meat of other birds, such as pigeons or doves, or game birds like pheasants

I think it is because when you eat any meat you are basically eating the muscle of the organism and that would be the same for fish

I think you mean why do they not pay attention to the plight of seafood.
Because nobody cares about squid or shrimp or cod. They are not adorable.
