I was sent a note earlier today.
apparently there are lots of fish and chicken eating vegans, please make yourself known to all of us, thanks.
Oh, and please cite your authorative and moderated source that state you are a vegan if you eat chicken or fish
Here's the note i was sent
"I was right when I said some vegans eat chicken and fish....this statement I said may not be in YOUR experience, but I have alot of vegan friends. While not all of them eat chicken or fish...some of them do, and perhaps u do not...so check ur self b.f u go around telling people they are giving you misleading facts why don't ya"
With a bit of luck, no one will answer.
Personally, i've never heard such nonsense as chicken eating vegans.

I don't liek the use of the term "pseudo-vegetarians". To me, it confuses things. One is either a vegetarian, or not.
I'm white and from the UK, can i call myself a pseudo-Ethiopian ? no, its just not logical

You're not a vegan, your a pollotarian (aka pollo-vegetarian). Basically, you can eat chicken or white meat, but you won't eat fish or the flesh of any red meat mammals. You can still eat dairy products if you want. I think that sounds better than calling yourself a vegan when really, no offence here, you're not a vegan at all. Though at the end of the day you should just eat what you want and not worry about what to call yourself. Hope this helps. :)

Well whoever sent you that note obviously doesn't know what vegan means. Vegans don't eat any animal products. Including but not limited to fish, poultry, beef, pork, seafood, mutton, dairy, eggs, and lamb. They also don't eat things flavored with or containing animal products, such as gelatin, made from animal hooves, honey made by bees, bullion or broth, and sugar refined with animal bones. Many, but not all, also don't wear things like leather, wool, and silk as they all come from animals.
So this person is severely misinformed, and so are their so called "vegan" friends. I mean heck even vegetarians don't eat fish or poultry. If this persons friends think they are vegans they are very very wrong. The only thing they can really be called are people who don't eat red meat.
Don't you just love it when people that are misinformed wont listen to the truth, no matter how much information you show them telling them they are wrong. Talk about stubborn!
Well good luck....
And I hope that this helped

To the poster above, who stated that these people don't eat meat but they do eat chicken and fish - please note that chicken is meat. Yes, I know it's poultry but it's still meat.
And the ridiculousness of calling yourself a vegan then eating chicken and fish is insulting to real vegans.
True vegans are genuinely compassionate people who are making a stand against animal cruelty with their lifestyle. People should have the decency to only call themselves vegan when they are genuinely following a vegan lifestyle, and they know why they are doing it.
Anyone who calls themselves vegan then has any animal products clearly couldn't actually give a t*ss about the animals, and are just jumping on a bandwagon.

Hello Michael! Was the note written in Crayola crayon !? A fish or chicken eating Vegan is an oxymoron!!! It is bad enough these hypocrites claiming to be vegetarians (as veggies do not eat flesh!!). Vegans do not eat anything that comes from animals ie dairy, eggs and honey.
I think Foxhunter_guy should go and read a proper study into veganism, a medical journal written AFTER 1950 or anything by John Robbins, heir to 'Baskin Robbins' who shunned the ice cream business in favour of saving the environment and becoming a Vegan nutritionalist !!!
I'm away to borrow my daughter's 'Lazy town' coloured pencils to write him a note saying 'Give up spouting your gibbering nonsense now or I'll send the girls* 'round!!' (*Gillian McKeith and Susan Powter!!)

Are you serious!? Vegans eating chicken or fish? That's funny, annoying, and downright infuriating at the same time. Who said this? God, I hope they show up.
"I don't like the use of the term "pseudo-vegetarians". To me, it confuses things. One is either a vegetarian, or not."
- I agree, I prefer Flexatrian or some other choice words (if you have ever listened to the early Vegan Freak podcasts you know what I mean ;) )

LOL. The only people that will answer are those who don't know any better. Just because someone calls himself something does not make it true. It may be ignorance or lying but I'll stick with the fact that most "vegetarians" that eat fish and chicken are just not educated to what a vegetarian is.
The person who emailed you fits under ignorance.

Chicken eating "Vegetarians" (pseudo-vegetarians) I have heard of, but this goes completely against the very definition of vegan:
"Veganism (also known as strict vegetarianism or pure vegetarianism) is a philosophy and lifestyle that avoids using animals and animal products for food, clothing and other purposes. In practice, a vegan (an adherent of veganism) commits to the abstention from consumption or use of animal products, including meat, fish, AND POULTRY, animal gelatin, honey, eggs and dairy products, as well as articles made of silk, fur, wool, bone, leather, feathers, pearls, nacre, coral, sponges and other materials of animal origin." ("Veganism", Wikipedia, emphasis mine)
This person must be misinformed, or confusing the terms "vegetarian" and "vegan" (a common mistake, I have noticed), although the people this person is speaking of are not even vegetarians, but rather pseudo-vegetarians.

That is ridiculous! If someone eats any meat then they are not a vegan. There's no such thing as pseudo-vegan. That's just an excuse someone created. I never heard of it.

It's ridiculous! I knew a girl who said she was vegetarian, apart from her weekly dish of bangers and mash and her full fry up breakfasts! Why do people pretend to be veggie when they're not, it's so frustrating going out for a meal and being told that the only 'vegetarian' option is fish.
