Some girl told me she was an alto-vegetarian,she said that means she can eat fish and chicken.I was like wtf?People ask me if I consider fish meat, and I'll say yeah,if you go to the butcher/meat section of a supermarket you're gonna find fish their.Fish have flesh, and flesh is meat.If it bleeds,it is meat.If it isn't meat, then what is it?it sure isn't a fruit or a vegetable.

I find it funny that some people assume fish isn't meat. I've had a few people come to me and say "well, you don't eat meat right? Well what about lunch meat...or fish." Its kind of an oxy-moron. Some people are just that dumb. I haven't been a vegetarian long (3 years in Feb) and it did take me a few readings to get the full definition what it really meant to be a vegetarian.

I'll try to find my resources here shortly, but here is what I have read in the recent past.
There is a specific chemical that coats receptors in the brain that is primarily found in fish and large portions of certain types of cereal that is necessary to help prevent dizzying / motion sickness, and there are studies that have shown it to potentially reduce Alzheimer's and depression.
In one study, countries that have a large fish import/consumption rate have low Alzheimer's incidents, and lower than normal incidents of suicide.
so, it could be shown that fish could prove helpful, but i've noticed that these studies often change as quickly as the weather.
Myself, I have noticed that since I stopped eating meat, i do loose my balance easier, and i get "motion sickness" , and i never used to have those issues. often times i can't ride roller coasters and other similar activities, spin around really fast... that type of thing, i get nauseated very quickly and easily.
and yes, fish is meat, if people eat fish, they are in no way "pseduo/semi/nearly vegetarian"... they are just people that have a healthy diet and eat well. If you eat an animal, any animal, that makes you non-vegetarian. The different types of vegetarians that are out there are ovo-lacto (eats eggs and dairy) ovo- eggs only, lacto- dairy only, vegan - no animals or by-products, and "fruitarian" is what i call them, but someone that doesn't eat anything that you have to cook, they are also called "raw foodist"...
hope this helps, and again i'll try to find those "fish-brain" links and edit and post them here.

It would appear that being a pescavore does cause 'dain bramage'! I've not seen any direct research on this phenomenon but I would speculate that the available research on how aquatic life has been heavily contaminated with PCBs, mercury, cadmium and other heavy metals may provide an explanation of the reduced intellect of those misguided fools. Other possible reasons may be the exposure to Vibrio toxins, parasites or other disease organisms carried by aquatic life that are known to infect human hosts.

I think we can maybe thank Ben
Franklin for all this confusion.
He was among the first fish-only
people to be erroneously called
vegetarian.
Ironically he died from intestinal
cancer. Many pathologists credit
his late life obsession with pot
roast as the cause of his ultimate
demise.
We all know that Ben invented
and pioneered many things;
maybe even the term pesco-
vegetarian.

there are different levels of Vegetarain, i fall under sudo-vegetarain, i refrain from eating red meat, and get my protein sorce from polltry and fish, the only way i could see fish being harmful is if they had high levels of Mercury in them. Other than that the omaga 3's in them are very healthy for brain function.
