to my knowledge, the risk of heart attack generally goes like this (the race most at risk is to the left):
black > white > brown (south asian - indian etc) > yellow (oriental people)
why does the likelihood of a heart attack vary from race to race? is it the muscularity/ level of testosterone in that race?
thanks

I have been doing this as part of my college project. Lifestyles are the main reason. Diet plays a major part. I think it is indian diets which tend to be high in ghee which is unhealthy for the heart. Indians are also have a higher risk of diabetes which is a risk factor in CHD.

First of all it's all down to diet and their ability to adapt to a diet that is not native to the particular race. Orientals eat a lot of lovely soya bean products, which can help prevent heart attack significantly. Whites tend to eat a lot of fat that can clog up their arteries. Blacks may not be able to adapt to modern European/American diet, which is high in fat. Also, hormones play a big part, just like you suggested, as female hormones do help reduce heart attacks in women but after the menopause the risk of heart attack shoots up.

Heart attacks are a demon in all races however the factors are.......hereditary, food we eat, stress in our lives and the exercises we don't get.
Blacks are high on the list because of the foods they eat and the
hereditary factor. Alot of greasy foods, fried and pork. That clogs the arteries.
Hispanics are high on the list because of the high drama in there lifestyle. Even a casual conversation is excitement.
Orientals are calm, eat little red meat and have a stress free life style.
Americans are eating fast food (fat) don't exercise and deal with heredity.
You are what you eat, then plenty of exercise!!

The risk of heart attacks is based primarily on heredity. Sure there are many factors which effect it, but not as much as a person's genes.
