Bad snoring needs a sleep study to make sure that person doesn't have sleep apnea, which can be dangerous. Sleep apnea suffers, move a lot when they sleep and stop breathing many times a night. That puts the sufferer at greater risk for heart attack and stroke. These people usually snore horribly. If it is determined that the person you speak of has sleep apnea, s/he will be put on a cpap machine while they sleep. My husband and I are both on one and we discovered our problem through our terrible snoring.

You may want to consider polysomnography. A sleep study to determine if you suffer from sleep apnea. If so they most likely will prescribe CPAP(continuous positive airway pressure) or BiPap.(bi level positive airway pressure) a machine you use at night to sleep with. If you are over weight this can cause sleep apnea. What basically takes place is the tongue falls back and restricts the airway. The BiPap helps maintain an open (patent) airway by introducing a positive pressure to the upper airway.

Vicks on the bridge, followed by band aids. Works for me, anyway.

Maybe Breathe-Rite strips to hold your nose open so you won't breathe through your mouth.
