If it's iron deficiency anemia, you need to add more iron into the diet. Spinach is the commonly listed veggie for iron but dark leafy veggies are all good for you. I heard unsulphored black strap molasses was good too though it might not be tasty. Anemia can also be caused by a vitamin B deficiency.

Your friend should ask a doctor for treatment suggestions as anemia can be serious and can be a result of (or mask) some other health issue.

Here are some websites with information on anemia:

If it is due to an iron deficiency, the easiest way to improve it would be by eating foods high in iron. Try going through the cereal isle and looking at some of the whole grain cereals, such as 'Total'...also, include foods such as the ones listed in this website:

eco-friendly Leafy vegetables like Spinach. also nuts, beans, raisins, and that i found some liquid nutrition B12 at wholefoods. The B12 has raspberry flavoring in it to cover the flavor, It also needs to contain a touch alcohol because after I take it i'm thoroughly out an hour later.

Meat particularly liver. I wouldn't recommend iron supplements unless your doctor prescribes them as too much iron is toxic.

I would be taking vitamin supplements like B-Complex, Iron, and Alfalfa. I would be eating foods that have protein in them.

Liver, if one can tolerate it (I can't). Otherwise dark, leafy green vegetables and red meat. You could also take an iron supplement.
