Well, it depends on which source you believe. 2 aspirin 162 mg by mouth everyday is recommended with a full glass of water and with food to avoid peptic ulcer or other GI bleeding for its anti inflammatory effect. It is also a mild blood thinner that some say will prevent the formation of a clot that can cause a heart attack. Critics say that aspirin interferes with folic acid. Perhaps a therapeutic multivitamin would counteract this occurrence. Chewable baby aspirin has the potential to erode the enamel on the teeth, so many recommend swallowing the pills without chewing. Have a great new year.

There is not a simple or quick answer. WHY? Because it depends on why you use it. All drugs have good and bad affects upon our bodies. If you have a headache, it can help, but make sure you use it as directed and understand if you are not yet an adult, that it tends in teens and younger people to cause a lot of abdominal problems if used daily or even for several days in a row.
For many adults they recommend, especially if they have high blood pressure and/or high cholesteral, that they use the 81mg tabs, once a day. WHY? Becuase if you have high blood pressure, using 1, 81mg tab a day can help prevent strokes. SEE ANY MEDICAL WEB SITE ON STROKES FOR MORE ABOUT THIS, as this is a complex issue and all people using it daily need to do so under the supervision of a doctor. For people with high Cholestoral they sometimes recommend using the 81 mg tab once a day because it can help prevent strokes in them as well.
If you use aspirin, make sure it's the coated kind, as it's better on your stomach and intestines. Always eat first, to lesson abdominal problems.
If you are a teen, talk to your parents and or a pharmacist before using over the counter meds. WHY? Because young people and even many adults end up using medications for things they were not ment to be used for; over using them, even abusing them and it can harm you. Aspirin can lead to internal bleeding in many people, ulcers, ringing in the ears and more.
All headache type medications need to be used sparingly and with caution, as even Tylenol and the generic versions of Tylenol when used daily can cause Liver problems.
PLEASE USE CAUTION with all medications.

I have to disagree with most posters here. No, asprin is not good for you. Unless you are at risk for a heart attack (and have been advised by your doctor to take asprin), why put an unnecessary drug into your body? You need to weigh the risks and benefits of every drug you take.
(The following info is copied from my second source)
Many people have been using an aspirin a day to prevent a stroke and heart attack. But a recent major study in Canada found it may actually increase the risk of stroke and heart attack in 40% of the people who took it! It also shows that such long- term aspirin use can make you blind by increasing your risk of macular degeneration, and even increasing your risk of cataracts by up to 44 percent. Three other studies from Germany, Britain, and the U.S. support these discoveries.
Aspirin use can result in serious side effects, such as stomach bleeding, bleeding in the brain, kidney failure, and some kinds of strokes. Wheezing, breathlessness, ringing in the ears, hearing loss, chronic catarrh & runny nose, headache, confusion, nausea, vomiting, GI upset, GI bleeding, ulcers, rash, allergic reactions, hives, bruising, abnormal liver function tests, liver damage and hepatitis have also been diagnosed. If you take too much, the toxic effect is Kidney Damage, severe metabolic derangements, respiratory and central nervous system effects, strokes, fatal hemorrhages of the brain, spleen, liver, intestines & lungs and death.

Asprins are good for people who have heart problems, and are over a certain age, usually 60. They are a blood thinner. If you have a heart problem your doctor will tell you to take one asprin a day. Otherwise it is not a good idea to take asprin often, that is why other medications like tynol and aleve were invented, each has a use for specific needs. Consult a doctor to determine which is best for you. Normally Tynol is the least dangerous to use in most cases, there are many side effects that can be caused by some of the other products out there.

They say 81 mg.per day is good for you. It helps with the prevention of heart diseases. The best one out there actually is the St. Josephs Childrens aspirin. Its exactly 81 mg. per tablet.

Take an aspirin a day and you'll significantly reduce the chances of heart disease and / or failure. You could also chew up your liver though.
