I was told today that I had herpes HSV 2, right now it feel like its the end of the world because everyone says that the outbreaks come back in two months. Now for those with no outbreaks I just want to know if you take pills everyday and think about it everyday or do you just forget about and live life. Right now it governs my life because I'm new to the information so I don't know what to do should I tell friends and family and be looked upon like a black sheep? Did you tell everyone you got it or just a loved one? Also should I take pills right now even though I have no symptoms and for the rest of my life? I don't think I can afford it.

It may feel like the end of the world to you, but it does not have to be. It was not the end of the world for me, and I have had it over 30 years.
Some people never have outbreaks and others have them occasionally.
Zovirax can suppress outbreaks. Before I took it, I usually had an outbreak every month. Now, I rarely have one.

Listen, I've had it for 5 years. I USE to take Valtrex to "stop reoccuring break outs." However, I noticed that I was still have breakouts once a month as well as always feeling like I was shedding the virus (tingling sensation.) I've decied to go the natural way. And it has changed my life. What I take is 4-500 mg of L-Lysine daily. Two in the Morning Two before bed. You can buy this at ANY store...usually under 5 bucks for 100 pills/vitamins. Since I've stopped taking the prescribtion crap the outbreaks have stopped. I haven't had any outbreak in a few years....on the RARE ultra RARE time I have a small outbreak I rub Tea Tree Oil that only 8 bucks at Rite Aid WalMart...where ever on it, and it's gone in 2 days.....don't let this hold you back, you don't need to tell anyone until you are ready....or just tell the person who you fall in love with, family doesn't need to know....this doesn't change you as a person.

You should take pills only during a outbreak.

Treatment Of Genital Herpes

Genital herpes is treated with oral anti-viral medications. Your doctor may adopt episodic or suppressive therapy. In episodic therapy, your doctor will give you medicine whenever you have an episode of genital herpes. It is best to begin the medication when you find signs of the prodrome. In suppressive therapy, anti-viral medication is continued to suppress any outbreak of herpes. Anti-virals don't cure herpes but reduce the time period and the severity of the outbreak. Regular medication may also reduce the shedding of virus when no outward signs are present.
