Clinically, or scientifically, I don't know.. .but using the method of reason.. it works out like this:
Drink alcohol... sit around not doing so much. No exercise, high calorie alcohol. more alcohol, more sitting around doing nothing. No exercise.. high calorie alcohol. ...interspersed with a high calorie, high fat diet = adult onset Type 2 diabetes.
So it could be as much lack of activity and bad diet that contributes to the disease.. and alcohol is just an enabler.

If you're not smart enough to avoid alcohol then remember that some Diabetic meds restrict you from using alcohol and the med to gether.
