For some reason a lot of vegetarians say they can eat fish because it isn't as smart as all the other animals that people eat. But I say, if you're not going to eat animal flesh, you shouldn't eat fish. I would have to say yes on this one, I consider it meat.

meat=animal flesh
What are your reasons for not eating other meats? There are lots of reasons people choose to be vegetarian. Some may include:
feel bad for the animals (in that case, it should certainly extend to fish)
raising animals for human consumption takes a heavy toll on the environment (also applies to fish, not as much)
health reasons (red meat, etc. But then poultry should be ok)
Think about why you want to be a vegetarian and then decide if it makes sense to eat fish.

I know you have probably gotten more than enough answers for this one... But I just wanted to support you as a vegetarian myself, if you choose to eat seafood. All of the people who said fish is meat...they are correct. But I really agree with the very first answer to your question. In my opinion it all depends on your reasons for being a vegetarian... Do some research on fish...see if you agree with how they are caught and killed and their nutrition facts. It all depends. there is such a thing as Pesco-Vegetarian...vegetarians that don't eat meat but will eat seafood... Some people just believe that because they choose to eat JUST fruits and vegies and NOTHING else even relating to animals...that they have to force their beliefs and diet practices on the rest of the world. So eat up! Or not... lol whatever holds your morals and principles the highest.

Yes, a fish is an animal not a vegetable. If you eat fish then technically you are a pescatarian, not a vegetarian. However any reduction in meat eating is beneficial. Find the diet that works for you and don't worry about definitions!

Yes, fish is meat. You would be eating the flesh of an animal (fish) and this counts as meat! Just like pork, steak, chicken, etc.

A vegetarian does not eat any animals. Fish are animals, therefore they are meat.
You can become a pescetarian if you choose to eat fish, but those who eat fish are not vegetarians.
Depending on the reasons that you are becoming vegetarian, remember that fish have incredibly developed nervous systems and that they are killed basically by suffocating them. Also remember that fish are basically going extinct due to overfishing. And the fishing industry not only catches that Tuna (or other fish) that you are eating, but along with that catches &/or kills dolphins (dolphin free only means under the allowable amount of dolphin kills), sea turtles, manatees, sea lions, whales, by-catch fish (those you aren't eating but get caught in the net or injured by the line), sharks, seals, and numerous other non-eatable animals.
If you are vegetarian for health reasons, there are few fish who are not somehow tainted by toxic waste and run-off.

I was a vegetarian for a short period of time, and fish, technically, is considered meat. But these days, the term "vegetarian" is used very loosely. Here's a breakdown of some I've come across.
Vegan - no meat or animal products (including milk/cheese and eggs).
Vegetarian - no meat, but animal products OK. (eggs debatable)
Seafood Vegetarian - no meat except seafood.
White-meat Vegetarian (this one makes me laugh) - no meat except seafood and chicken.
But you decide what kind you want to be, it would depend on your reasons for being a vegetarian: animal cruelty, religion, or health reasons.

it absolutely is meat, as it was once a living, feeling creature. i have heard of some people that call themselves "pescatarians" meaning that the only meat they'll eat is fish. i believe that true vegetarians would not eat fish, but there you go. it's your choice, but i don't recommend it.

If you have been eating fish, you are not a vegetarian. Meat is another word for flesh and fish have flesh.
