La bandera Dominicana (the Dominican flag), has three colors, and the dish with that same name, has three representing sides: white rice, beans and meat.

The word criollo has many meanings but when we (Dominicans) refer to things that are "criollo" we mean that it's ours culturally. Basically the it has been "Dominicanfied"

I hope that this is helpfull

Well usually " a la criolla" means the ingredients that go into it are basic and popular to the country and all latin countries have their "a la criolla" dishes. So you can have rice a la criolla, pork chops a la criolla, chicken a la criolla and so on and have it different in every dish and in every country because it means thats how they cook it in that country. In Puerto Rico for instance when you season meat a la criolla it means youve used a mashed mixture of salt, pepper, olive oil and garlic as your seasoning, but rice a la criolla usually comes with thick tomato sauce and "sazon" which is a mixture of different spices. La bandera is the native and very regional dominican way of "la comida" or food.

The term Creole and its cognates in other languages — such as crioulo, criollo, créole, kriolu, criol, kreyol, kriulo, kriol, krio, etc. — have been applied to people in different countries and epochs, with rather different meanings.
It was originally applied to descendants of the Portuguese settlers who were born and "raised" locally. The word then spread to other languages, probably by the Portuguese slave traders who supplied most of the slaves to South America through the 16th century.
