Food: First of all, all food should be finger food because there were no eating utensils then (well, there were, but I doubt you want to use sticks - but hey...kabobs would fit that bill!). How about chicken wings labeled as "baby pterydactyl wings" and fruits.
Drinks: I think this can pretty much be whatever you want.
Decorations: Swatches of fake fur on the serving table and scattered elsewhere, lots of votive candles placed together to represent cooking/heating fires in the caves, tree branches and twigs to represent the wilderness, decorative stones or rocks.

Background jungle music is a must. ie. Oooh-Ahs of chimpanzees, birds chirping and an elephant. Huge renaissance festival turkey legs eaten by hand. Stone chairs and stone looking table. Perhaps to liven things up you can go with a flinstones theme and have guests select a character and dress appropriately in costume. Dont forget games/contests. Stone bowling, hopscotch, (watch some flinstones episodes for creative ideas).

You could follow a caveman theme with having everything to represent dinosaurs, since they were around supposedly at the same time, right. You can serve burgers on the grill, and call them "Brontosaurus Burgers", and maybe serve "Caveman Coolers" (your version of punch or sodas) Also for food, you can find the dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets. You can have a fire pit (for little ones make it a ball pit with a fire design). Play dinosaur sound effects in the background. Prayers =)

Think Big! and of course messy
Try for outside, fire pit or bar-b-Que pit (borrow some from friends), stash through out the yard (monitor children and drunken people)
Food :
Turkey legs, chicken wings, ribs, rustic(hearty) sandwiches, or put something on a spit (baby pig, couple of whole chickens, a roast)
Music: whatever you like with occasional burst of drums
Decorations: Animal prints, fire, rocks, if inventive; hang some butcher paper on an outside wall, put out some charcoal biscuits, mud, couple bowls of water, paper towels and let the party goers do some drawing (Good for children and drunken people)

Acutally, watch the Flinstones Movies...they are full of all kinds of fun stuff...
You didn't say if this was for a child's party or an adult...a little more info would be helpful in making suggestions...

you could use the large pretzel rods as clubs, or tree trunks.
ummmmm you could by a bag of plastic dinos for decorations or make a devil's food cake and frost it with vanilla frosting colored with food coloring to make some volcanos. then use the dinos to decorate around the cake's base. hehehe make them run.
use crushed oreos to make rocks and boulders. i would think that after crushing them you would have to use a little bit of frosting to make boulders or use chocolate chips or even hershey's kisses, just cut the tops off.
Hope this gets you started.

Cave women were always topless for starters. Cave men had few inhibitions and were quick to make advances. I'm thinking a bowl of condoms myself.
