Smoking reduces the bodies defense mechanisms, when you quit smoking you had already been exposed to the cold, and then by quiting smoking your body began to repair the lung dammage thus making it harder to fight the infection. Also quiting smoking will cause increase in mucas membrane sensitivity. You may also get a cough this is your body getting rid of the junk in your lungs.

I had seizures for almost 10 years of my life and I've been on both of those meds (I hated lamictal! But everyone is different.). Going cold turkey or changing anything that your body is used to can increase seizures. I would suggest staying off the cigarettes and getting into yoga. The cigarettes probably decreased seizures because it lowered your anxiety and brain activity. You'll continue having the seizures for about two months. It only takes 2 weeks to get the nicotine out of your system, but two months for your brain to readjust. You can speed this recovery up by doing the yoga, drinking plenty of water, and keeping a healthy diet with plenty of fruits and veggies. (The hormones in meats and dairy can also increase stress and anxiety in the body.)

Yep. Your body is going to detoxify. I got the worst cold and respiratory infection after I quit smoking. It took a while to go away, but I felt great once I got through it. Stick to it!

You immune system isn't what it should be, but no....you can't catch a cold from stopping smoking. If you have a cold now, you caught the germs that caused it. Not smoking.

when you stop a addiction your immune system is not working at top speed from all the stress you experience. stopping smoking is far my important than worrying about a cold.
