The problem with milk production is that it relies on the cows being kept pregnant pretty much all the time, otherwise they wouldn't produce milk. If a dairy farm were to allow a cow to keep its calves, then the calf would drink the milk and there wouldn't be any left for the farmer to take to sell to humans!
The inherent cruelty in the dairy industry is that - cows are kept pregnant, as soon as they give birth the calves are taken away which is extremely distressing for both mother and baby - so that the farmer can harvest the milk.
So I would say that the answer to your question is no and yes. There are plenty of organic milk producers (no antibiotics, no chemicals etc) but no ethical ones.

No, bull dairy calves are not suitable growing on to beef and so are all slaughtered at about 5 days old.
me: i'm an arable farmer and see pens full of dairy bull calves all the time waiting for the bullet.
Not even "single house cow" farms will keep a dairy bull calf
Dairy cows are pumped full of hormones, they are artificially inceminated every year to calf. They are fed steroid foods, they are slaughtered at 5 years old instead of a natural death at 15. They are worked to exhaustion. Most modern dairy farms will feed on a carosel milking machine, they get just the right about of food, calculated to the fraction, depending on how much milk they give. They wear pedometers and any cow that dares to eat more, than an accountants view of how much feed they need, gets the chop.
Modern cows give 60 litres per day. In the 1950's they gave 15 litres a day....doesn't that suggest something is wrong here ?
none of that seems ethical to me
The carousels are a marvel of engineering, but hardly promote an ethical farming method. My neighbour is a herdswoman. She can milk 400 cows two times a day. Think about that, can you imagine how the cows must be treated to force them through this system twice a day.
The "organic" label is a joke and used to market a higher price and make people feel better.
Me: i live amongst this so i know its true, its not scare mongering.
And lets be clear. Its not the farmers fault. it people who demand price cuts and will not pay a sensible price for milk that forces the industry to adapt to this cruelty. If you drink milk, you are responsible.

Is any milk production ethical?
The cow is made pregnant and has its calf taken away so we can have the milk that was meant to feed it.
Unless being bred for veal a female calf will live anyway either sold to someone else or as a member of the herd the farmer has.
If is male it will be sold on to a Beef or Veal producer. As veal is calf meat and not many bulls are needed as Adults Organic or not it will be slaughtered. If we didn't use them they'd ALL be slaughtered!
If you dont want calves to be killed - and don't eat meat, why drink their milk or eat the products made from it!

It would be impossible for a dairy farmer to raise calves via them being fed by their mother as this is the only way he can obtain his milk yield. BUT what I think should be questioned here as the calves are bucket fed anyway, is the fact that they live only a few weeks before being sent to slaughter for the veal. I am a person that fully understands that certain animals have been put on this earth to feed us if we choose to be meat eaters BUT what I do object to is no quality or life, our beef cattle have to be slaughter by 36 months now, so why do we not ban veal production there is no necessity for it, its considered a luxury & I do not see why people have to eat it.

It's pretty horrible, i agree. I wish that the calves thing didn't happen. I also wish that the cows were not milked in the way that they are, electronically. That must hurt. I think the only way to get milk ethically is to own cows.

Hi yes - there is butcher called Sheepdrove (in Bristol and London). The animals are owned by them and farmed naturally - obviously, the animals are slaughtered eventually but this is done in a humane way. The animals are not fed chemicals etc to speed up the fatening process. I buy all of my meat in there. For me, the problem is not eating meat but unnecessary animal suffering. Try visiting their website www.sheepdrove.com

A cow's milk is not ours in the first place: it is produced by the cow for her calf. I don't think too many breastfeeding mothers would like the idea of having their child taken away and having her breasts hooked up to milking machines to feed someone's thirst for dairy.

In order to have milk, you have to have calves. What is the owner supposed to do, keep the calves for pets? You could adopt the calves and then feel guilt free about the whole drinking thing.

there's no label for that or atleast no longer one vegans and vegies in many cases acspet as one yet im confident someone has categorized it earlier. the in common words logical reason to save the cockerels is as a thanks to electrute them and then kill them. also i fairly doubt they enable the hens affiliate with them it truly is un organic (they dont want there eggs to all be fertile). even as the chicken stops laying adequate eggs they could kill her. that is sill exploitation of animals. are in basic terms some different issues vegans have a project with. With hunted try to be careful that they are extremely wild and by no ability born out of captivity yet in an enclosed area the position they haven't any probability of survival. i spotted you probably did not factor out fish except on the starting up. maximum fish struggle through a terible lack of life unable to breath as they don't seem to be in waterr being sqashed by technique of others of there style . imagine of it as drowing with 500 lifeless human beings on right of you. I although commend you on attempting to make a touch of enormous difference by ability of the years you may modify your perspectives further in direction of vegerterian or vegan. there is more effective you may do (there is more effective maximum individuals can do) yet you've made a start up even no matter if that is a small one it truly is more effective then you definately can say about maximum individuals. undergo in ideas continuously do what you imagine is ideal. a recognition is only a recognition. you in common words want a lable in case you want to exhibit off or seam supeiour (akin to the flaxiterian vegans) EDIT: What are your perspectives on leather-depending outfits, shoes, seats and each thing else made out of leather-depending? same with geliten and animal fat further to tarts (and tarts made out of non good regarded after eggs) Im curious what someone such as your reported fealings thinks about this no longer in any respect attacking.

for milk to be produced cows die..
if you don't like it don't drink milk..
if you wear leather it's the same cow's die..
this is why people become vegan
all animals are killed humanely as the person below me says..
stunned with electricity and bled to death...
but it's a fact of the dairy industry no matter how the animals are reared they die.. like another has said does the farmer keep them as pets no!
