Ok why does one side of my power go out in the house when my son comes to stay all night with me? That is the only time it gos out.

maybe your son has a lot of static negative electric charges on his person and this is affecting the power in the house.

I suspect that your circuit breaker is running close to max on that one circuit and either you or him turn something one that is connected to the circuit like say an electric heater. What will happen is that heater/appliance will be running and then there is a spike of electricity and then the power goes out. When you restore power the appliance does not turn because of a manufacture safety design that makes you manually turn it on, however it already finished its work or has created enough heat that you don't notice it not working. I have a similar problem at my place.

Check the breakers. He may be bringing someone home behind your back. Smart of him. I never thought of that when I was young and lost in the world.
However, if your son is a minor, you may want to summon the police to your home. Always call the police for any suspicious or unknown activity in or around your house.

Maybe one of you is tired and overworked and they zap the energy out of the electricity to pick up energy. Seems to happen to me at times.
