Some references do suggest vasoline or baby oil to smother the mites (eg ref below) - this may be controversial but it is worth trying but not if it removes the proprietary scabies treatment. Were you recommended the lice shamppo by your pharmacist/doctor as a scabies treatment? You need to use one as recommended by an expert such as a pharmacist or doctor. You will need to treat your laundry too buy washing at an high temperature and putting those thi9ngs you cant wash in an airtight plastic bag for at least 7 days.
There is something called Neem oil that is supposed to be effective against scabies/lice etc that.

Scabies are a type of lice, and I have also heard that mayonnaise can smother them.
If you are of the persuasion of not using pesticides, then ANY type of oil COULD be used to rob the lice of oxygen.
I looked this up and I stand corrected! Everything I just said was wrong!
I typed "scabies treatments" into the search window of my browser, and a WHOLE BUNCH of info sites popped up!
I've only included one, but there are many, many more!
The ONE thing I DO know is that with ANY type of lice infestation is that you MUST clean ALL of your bedding and the clothes you wore/wear while infested AS WELL AS those of the people who you have been in close contact with!
REMEMBER THIS: Lice are a bug, and can live for days without being on your body!
Good Luck & God Speed!!!! :^)

In answer to your question - NO: Several preparations are effective in the treatment of scabies. Of these, malathion and permethrin are the ones used most commonly in the U.K. It is worth checking that the preparation you have been given is one specially designed for use in scabies, as both agents are available in several formulations, some of which are useful only for head lice. Your doctor may suggest different preparations for women who are pregnant or breast-feeding, or for babies.
Follow in detail the instructions issued with your treatment. If your pharmacist is unable to assist you, you will need to consult your doctor for medication
Hope this helps

My little brother got scabies a couple months ago and he tried everything - home remedies, he even went to the doctor and got a prescription, but he couldn't get rid of them. I ordered the Dexoprin for him and he only used it for like 2 or 3 days and hasn't had a problem since. I would highly reccomend it.

HI SUGA 9872,
sorry to be the bearer of bad news.......but, you need to contact your family practise doctor and ask him/her to phone in an RX
to your favorite pharmacy......they will gladly do it over the telephone.....
in the meantime, go home and take all the bedding off the bed, pillowcase, too!!!
wash all in hot water......also wash all the clothes you have been wearing since you noticed that you had this crummy condition, in hot water, too.
you might want to wait on all this until you have picked up the medication for the scabies.........start the medication, then begin the above directions......
i am assuming the medicine will be for your person......also if you have had any contact with a partner(s) you must notify him/her
immediately so that the partner can get started on themselves
i also recommend that you repeat this inconvenience again in 7 days...........also the partner, too
Good luck and God bless luv,sweetness#1

Than what can we put on our babies if all lotions contain these ingredients? What about those of us who are healthy today and our parents put these products on us? Some of us cannot afford the very expensive all natural stuff. Another question, if it is all natural why is it so expensive?
