Though personally, I've always got by fine just by playing around with the camera, learning what it can do in various modes & settings, and using instinct to line up the shots.

I am a professional photographer with over 20yrs exp and when i started in the business there was no internet and now things have changed. There r plenty of sites where u can learn the basics but going to school and taking a class is where u should really start. Here are a few sites the best one i found is #2. I hope this helps you out and good luck with your photography

I suggest, shock, horror! that rather than go to a website you start by acquiring one of the many beginners photographic books - have a look at Amazon. there are 100s.

I agree that you need to invest in a library of books on digital photography and the softwarre that you use to manipulate it,ie. Photoshop.

Amazon.com is a great place to start and "photgraphy for dummies" is a great starter book.
