It's coloring the roots. When your hair grows out after coloring your hair, the base of the hair grows in with your natural color. Color is applied to the roots to make it even.

once you have died your hair you have to get your roots touched up with more dye - otherwise your hair will keep growing but it will grow as your natural colour instead of the colour of the dye on the rest of your hair. this makes sure that all of your hair is the same colour even though your hair may have grown an inch since dyeing it. hope this helps!

its when ur hair (that has been dyed) starts to grow out and ur roots begin to show, so ur roots need a colour "top up" to make ur hair colour look natural

Instead of dyeing your whole head of hair you can just have your roots dyed

For relaxers it means to add the relaxer to the new growth/roots.

For hair color it means to add the color to just the roots.

WHen you coulour your hair, it eventually grows out. Then your origional colour comes back, you should touch these up. its called root touch up :)
