It isn't recommended to EVER run a system with the car off unless you have a marine/dry cell battery.

The reason for this is because with a regular battery
1) you'd only have about 20-40 minutes of listening time
2) you could very easily drain the battery to a point where it was too low to start the car
3) once you drain a regular battery too many times, it becomes crap and you have to get a new one

note: as far as current draw from you vehicles electrical system, it doesn't matter what the wattage is of your subs, because they draw from the amp. what you should pay attention to is the AMP'S current draw

If both the amp and sub are running at 250 watts you are drawing approx 40 amps. On your cars battery there will be an amp hour figure (ah). If this were to say 40ah your battery will run for 1 hour with a draw of 40 amps.
I personally wouldn't run a system like that for more than about twenty minutes without the engine running. Remember that you need a lot of current for your starter to work.
If you really need to do this fit a seperate battery with a split charger relay but you may then need to upgrade your alternator.

I would guess that while your drawling a lot of watts, your amp draw should be pretty low. I would guess you would have 15-30 minutes easily and maybe up to 45 minutes. Now that said if you waited until you saw signs that the battery was dying, then you wouldn't have enough juice left to restart the car. If you really interested in doing this then try a marine deepcycle battery they are designed for this and would probably give you about 2-3 hours of listening time without affecting the battery.

only bypass to summitracing and purchase a good bright severe output alternator...i'd say a minimum of 100 and sixty amp...and then purchase a sturdy battery at the same time with the D2700 even with the reality that that would want to be over/below kill because I dont understand what your equipment is operating....besides the undeniable fact that the recent alternator will in no way harm and it quite provides your wide-spread electric powered equipment a good massive improve.
