I think that would be way too long to send your children away.
When I was younger, once I reached a certain age, I would get to spend a week with my grandparents that live 1 1/2 hours away. I always thought that was special.
I went to camp a few times, but never gone for more than a week at a time.
Parenting is a full time job and I think months away from your kids is too much....plus its a lot of time to ask someone else to take care of your children.
I have a 15 month old and one one the way and my parents have moves about 1 hour away, I think when the kids get older, I'll send them to their grandparents for a week, my mom has already expressed interest in doing that and I feel a week is a good "break" if you need one.

Well maybe once a year for a weekend at most, but NO not for the summer, I have four kids and I wouldn't be caught without them, they need the parents and a good visit by the Grandparents is better then a long drawn out stay, it could also cause separation anxiety disorder in the child if done drastically.

I could not do that even if I wanted to, all the grandparents still work. I know my husband grandparents would come and get him and his sister and he would stay with both sets for about six weeks, three weeks each. The grandparents lived near each other in Ohio and he grew up in Vermont. I don't think I could do it for that long, a few days would be OK.

Our grandparents lives far away, so we don't have time enough to visit them. When my kids where younger, they spent 2 weeks with this one grandparents, 2 weeks with this other ones and 2 weeks in a summer camp. Now they are teenagers and want just spent time with friends and hanging around at home.

when my daughter was younger she would go to summer camp for one week and to her grandparents for one week. She did not spend the whole month as she wanted some time to spend with her friends at home but a week gave her a break.

Not for that long. I can see for a week or 2 but that's about it. My almost 13 year old will be attending a 2 week sleepaway camp this summer for the first time. That will be the longest she has ever been away.

One month plus one month equals TWO months away from your parents?
I can't believe that the grandparents would go along with this.

No, I dont do that. I would be misserable without my daughter. I might send her somewhere for a night or a weekend, but not the whole summer.
