I wouldn't think it would matter. I've cooked ham in a crock pot with bone in and it turned out just fine. I can't say I've ever cooked chicken bone-in in a crock pot tho. I wouldn't see why it would make a difference. The only thing I could think of is that it turns the meat real tender and you might be fishing bones out of your meal. Plus with bone in, it would take up more room in the crock pot.

A lot of ppl prefer to cook with bone in, it supposedly gives the food more flavor.

No defintely not. Bone meat is always better. The important thing to remember, especially with chicken, is that it must not be FROZEN. I usually heat the chicken up a bit just to be on the safe side .

Actually, it is better with the bones, they add more flavor during slow cooking. For example, if you wanted to make crock pot chicken and dumplings, you slow cook a whole chicken (or various pieces) with onions and celery, then remove the cooked vegetables and bones and discard them.

no it does not matter bone in or bone out,,,, the one thing you will find the food cooks so tender the the meat will fall right off the bone so be careful to not get a bone in the food when serving...

The biggest problem is chicken skin is crawly if you put it in the crock pot much like stewed chicken. I do rib roasts all the time.
