I guess you are using, what you call, a multimedia keyboard in which function keys are assigned for some other tasks like increasing volunes, opening explorer also. This functionality is activated/deactivated by using an extra key on your keyboard. Probably it will be placed on the lower left or upper left part of your key board. Go back and find that... and wish you good luck

you have an unusual set of symptoms. i've got been employing a macBookPro for years, no such issues. Formatting the stressfulcontinual should not be required, ever. i've got not necessary to try this on any of the Macs i've got used. I even have encountered one sluggish working mac belonging to a pal - the subject exchange into brought about by using anti-virus utility. as quickly as that alter into bumped off the device velocity cam returned to familiar. With diagnostics you ought to run the two the applying on the stressfulcontinual, or on the OS DVD. the 2d selection could be better if there is an HD concern. The DVD desires to be inserted, the computing device restarted with the alt key down; or you may bypass into device alternatives and decide the DVD because of the fact the startup disk. Then use the utilities on the DVD to verify for a hardware fault. in case you have Applecare then touch the help to accomplish a little diagnostics and get it regarded after. solid luck.

this can be caused by one of three problems as far as i can tell, one your keyboard is going bad buy a new one or on some machines if you are using a usb keyboard it won't work until you are in an actuall windows enviroment in which case you will need to borrow a keyboard or go out and buy the cheapest one you can find, or if you kept the one the originally came with your machine your good to go. The last problem could also be if you have a usb keyboard but are using one of those green usb to ps/2 adapters if that is the case throw the adapter away and plug the keyboard into a usb port, those adapters are useless and cause more problems than they solve
