How could she have missed this while her son was a child? Give him a nightlight and a curfew that gets him home before the sun sets.

It is said that light and all universe created by God. That means God was living in the dark. I think that the dark is dark only to worldly creatures; not for all. When you think as above, I think, your fear for darkness may fly away permanently.

We all are somewhat uneasy about what we cannot see. My guess is that the son is watching too many scary movies, and has an overactive imagination. We all need to be living in the real world. In the real world there isn't much all that scary, and nothing pops up just because it is dark.

My son is 16 and is afraid of the dark. I don't know how to get him over that......I guess everybody has a fear of some kind. I don't think she should be worried about him.

I'll be 18 in 4 months...and I'm scared of the dark. I sleep with the light outside my room on. And if I have to go threw a dark room with like the light on the otherside. i have to run! just cause i start thinking of people being in it going to grab me. I dont know what she can do about it. Maybe he'll grow out of it. Maybe he won't as long as he doesn't obsess over it or anything.

Don't worry, I'm over 25 and sometimes, especially when I'm stressed, i feel uncomfortable in dark too. This happens only if my husband is at home because i know that if something bad happens he can help me so i let my self to be afraid, when I'm alone i never get the chills because i know I'm all alone and i must take care of myself ;)

That will work itself out as he gets older and gains more responsibility he will realize there is nothing to fear, I suspect right now he is fearing the breech of child to man and all that comes with it and it's manifesting in this form, time will cure it and don't make a big deal out of it or it could cause him to deal with even more then he is already dealing with.

dear friend,
ask ur friend's son to not close his eyes till he get rid of the fear, and explain, as is impossible to open eyes more than hardly 2 to 3 minutes, it is the same like... i.e. both light and dark are equal in nature. if he is fear of dark, it means that he is as fear as light too. just convey this message. for more information u can bring him online to my id.

people with many fears can go on to have normal lives. she shouldn't worry about her son. I'm 30, i have 6 kids, and I'm still afraid of the dark. normal life here... nothing to worry about.
