Ezekiel 16:48-49 tells us: "This is the sin of Sodom; she and her suburbs had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not help or encourage the poor and needy. They were arrogant and this was abominable in God's eyes."
Of course, the story has a sexual act in it. In those days, it was common for soldiers, thieves, and bullies to rape a fallen enemy, asserting their victory by dehumanizing and demeaning the vanquished. This act of raping an enemy is about power and revenge, not about homosexuality or homosexual orientation. It's called a gang rape. I don't know any homosexual who is in favor of gang rape, btw.
Face it, the story of Sodom is basicly about greed, excess and abuse of power.
2 questions: If God's word is so clear, how can people interpret it in so many ways? If your own Bible explains the sin of Sodom, what is so hard to interpret?

To answer your question you need to consider why people use a 2500 year old legend to condemn a natural variation of human sexuality that in itself harms no one.
The reason is that rationality, moral reasoning and philosophy fail to provide good reasons to condemn homosexuality, and people will clutch at any straws to justify what they feel. The alternative is for people to examine their own hearts and minds, and work out why it is they feel the way they do. This is very scary for homophobes. Much easier to hold on to a dubious interpretation of an old legend.

Look up what the word sodom means, & You bring again the same question trying to use bible & you can not even understand the Bible correctly, Friend the answer is still the same as before, Or are you wanting to ask this question all day hoping that someone will finally agree with you. Here is one person that will not agree with you, I know what went on in Sodom & gommorah, Why don't you study some history. I don't disagree that these other things did not go on, But The main reason for God to destroy them was Homosexauls & Lesbians, & Yes it is right, not everyone in those cities were Homo, or Lesbians, BUT God destroyed it all because they went alone with the life style

Okay, Read Daniel 11 verse 37 it is describing th anti Christ that is hastening Armegeddon...is that reason enough? Also Romans 1. The nations that follow with him are European and African, in the previous verses. You have to look up who they are in modern terms. . you are opening the door to make it perfetly acceptable and by the way it is called adultery and fornication and the out come is in Revelation 22: 11-21..When people do not Repent and change! It is a matter of Free Will! Only then will God forgive it Hebrews 4:16..2nd Peter 3, Matthew 24: 37, Luke 17:26 Jesus said it!

Any kind of sexual acts that are performed outside the bond of a marriage between a man and a woman are not approved of by God. You don't even have to read the Bible to have that make sense. People just want to come up with excuses to screw whoever they want and still be a "good person" and "a good christian" but it's not true.

The population of Sodom probably committed every type of sin, not just sodomy. It was destroyed for the entire body of sin, which included homosexuality, which is called an abomination by the Lord.

Who knows what is wrong and what is right? It was Ezekiel's version that the sin of sodom was pride and greed, and in Leviticus someone eles's point of view , and with Paul something else. Who knows what God has to say abt Homosexulaity. For me I personally believe that it is not what one does in the outside that counts, but what is inside.. If someone has a heart of a gold and is a homosexual will he be going to Hell? I personally dont believe it that way..

It seems that you have your mind made up, so what is the use in trying to explain it again. Do you want someone to agree with you so much that you keep posting the question? Are you BOTH Spiritually Blind and Spiritually Ignorant? I and many others have given you the answer and you have rejected it time and time again, so I am not going to beat my head against a brick wall. Maybe one day you will wake up, and see the Truth. The Seed of Truth has been planted, and now it is OUT of the hands of the ones who have TRIED to help you see. Happy sailing wherever you want to go, and have fair weather on your journey. I am not judging you, but do feel sorry for you.

I am familiar with that story, but the verses that speak loudest to me agains homosexuality are these found in Romans 1:
24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
REVISED NOTE: I see some thumbs down responses. I am not the author of these verses, just the deliverer (as some have said here there is no proof in the Bible.)

Leviticus 20:13 is a better scripture to use.
Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.
