If so how long can she stay and what kind of jobs are available to her?

She'll need a special "working holiday" visa. - apply early. The jobs are restricted to, I think, 3 months. It's designed to help the kids pay for their holiday and encourage them to move around the country, not just stay in one town.

The exception is if she works doing fruit picking. She can do this forever and her visa will be extended if she works on a farm.
(I know someone who did this). It's hard work!!!
