I am visiting the Dominican Republic in March and I'm not sure what I need to take. I am travelling from the UK and I think the main thing to get is Malaria tablets but when do I take them?

Thanks!

Check the FCO website for all the info you need on travelling to a foreign country -there'll be a link there for advice specific to the Dominican Republic.

There are no requirements for immunizations to visit D.R. Unless you are going to be traveling near the border of Haiti, you won't need the Malaria tabs either. The only thing I would bring is possibly some Immodium for the "Montezuma's Revenge". If you order a drink, make sure the ice cube have elongated holes in the center. This insures that you are drinking a drink with ice made from purified water. You will have a wonderful time there. I go there 2 times a year. (If I ever hit lottery, gonna retire there) Good luck. If you are going to Santo Domingo, check out the Old Santo Domingo. That is awesome and alot of photo opps there! Wonderful history and VERY happy people.

Santo Domingo may be the capital of the Dominican Republic and the oldest European city in the Americas and in the event that you would like to see one of the UNESCO World Heritage List then, that hotelbye may be the place. Santo Domingo is just a collage of cultures and neighborhoods. It's where in fact the sounds of life, domino pieces smacked on platforms, backfiring mufflers and horns from crazy traffic. In one's heart of the town may be the Zona Colonial, where you will find one of many oldest churches and the oldest remaining European. Also, in the Zona Colonial you will see Gazcue, one of the city's oldest neighborhoods, filled with previous Victorian properties and tree-lined streets.

I didn't have any specific jabs before I went there, but malaria tablets are a must. If you're like me - very attractive to mosquitoes, it's a nightmare - you just don't want to tempt fate.

Of course, make sure you get a very good insect repellent. I've also started taking yeast tablets and that seems to repel them cos they really don't like it (I live in the med now so have tried just about every remedy, repellent and old wifes tale going!).

you do not choose pictures for a visit, yet in case you could get pictures for Hep A and B low priced, you would possibly want to to boot get them. there is no vaccine for Dengue Fever. There are only some insects in the DR because there are tens of millions and tens of millions of little lizards that devour them both day and evening. virtually each tree in the rustic has 0.5 a dozen on them. you could get Malaria in the very rural factors, yet this does no longer ensue in vacationer zones. no man or woman beverages the tap water in the DR. bypass to any community marketplace and also you'll see 5 gallon jugs of water for human beings to drink of their homes. The ice is secure because all of it comes from purified water. in case you drink tap water you could get very unwell so do not even brush your enamel with it. The nutrition in the DR is secure mainly, yet be careful of buffets in All Inclusives.
