Dear Friend, reading the qu'ran doesnt necessarily mean you are going against your own religion or rather serving two masters. From where I am standing I think you are just educating yourself and being open minded. As long as you are rooted where you are, then I dont see the problem with reading the Qu'ran. Like you said, you dont intend changing to Islam.

There's good and bad in every religion, and we can all learn from each other. I'm a commited Protestant Christian, but I love talking to others about what they believe in, including Baha'is and an athiest. After all, if God created everything, is there not evidence of him to be seen everywhere? I think there's even somewhere in the Bible where God asks us to question him, for without learning, we stagnate. However, there's a difference between learning from other religions and adopting those religions, especially because most major religions preach that ONLY their way is the right way. So, theoretically, it's impossible to practice two religions, but philosophically, it's good to develop an understanding of how others think, so you can better understand how you think and what you believe in.

The OT shows many times where the Isrealites and others "hedged" their bets, so to speak and worshiped the One True God and then started to worship "man made gods"- You cannot worship God and man. So the answer to your question is - no. Are you practicing Catholism or are you following Christ- that is the question. I am not saying that Catholics are not Christians, because any church can have people in it that are true believers or not. You say you do not want to drop you Christian beliefs- but if you really have accepted Christ as your savior and have a relationship Him, you would know that practicing other "religions" is wrong- because God said- "you shall have no other gods before you".

I studied Islam as well, I also studied 5 or 6 of the other religions. Eventually I found the Salvation Army which is an off shoot of the Methodist religion. I found God and got saved, and feel complete. I chose this religion because they are not extreme in there beliefs, they are are caring and make a difference in this world. They believe the Bible and love all people and respect all religions.

If you're a "practising" R.C., you should know the answer already. How does "reading" the Holy Qu'ran make you a practising Islamic? I guess you can read and learn about any religion in this world but when you're a R.C., you shouldn't practise any other religion. Perhaps you should review your R.C. catechism. Cheers.

You may find that you have beliefs that don't fit into any particular mainstream religion or that would match several religions. This is generally referred to as Secular Humanism. Read a bit about this and you'll see that perhaps you're more Humanist than Roman Catholic or Islamic.
So long as their beliefs don't clash, I can't see anything wrong with associating yourself with more than one religion.

Hi,Learning bout different cultures and religions is really good and am happy for you cause you are able to do it.Nways back to your question. As far as i am concerned,It is perfectly alright if you practice more than one religion or even if you dont follow a single...but its alright only if you turn out to be a good soul.Any religion preaches you to be a perfect human, spread message of Love, help the needy and so on.I really feel if a person is a good Human....he is near and dear to God what ever might be his religion or even if he follows none.

If you want to be a basketball player, Do you practice hockey to become a basketball player, No, You can practice all religions in th world, But that does not make you a Christain one bit, & True Christian has to be born again, Then God will show you what the One True teachings is, I can only find one teaching in the bible & that is that of the Apostles. And They Preached unto us Salavation & not religion.
