i have been a bit of a naughty girl back in my youth!!,
i have worked in BHF (British heart foundation)
in a work shop making and painting gnomes!
painting and decorating house's/flats for old ppl
making and serving dinners for oap's
help clean paths on the tow path's (canal side)
out of them i liked doing the painting and making gnomes we had a laff,
and working at the BHF i made some friends an i still meet up with them now for a drinks an stuff, i think i was lucky there as the manager an assistant manager was younger that the volunteers!!,

I have never been on community service, but I work for a state park, and we get them out here all the time.
One young guy, unlucky for him, was there when one of our sewar pumps went out. Not only did he get his hours in, he also learned how to properly, pull, change, and install a brand new sewer pump. And, yes, sewer pumps come out covered in raw sewage. We were al very happy he was there that day. If not, it would have been us doing the job.
I doubt there is anything worse than changing a sewer pump.

My daughter skipped school. I called the police and she was taken to Juvenal. She got sentenced to community service through the Police Dept. She had to pick up trash along city streets and at the city and county parks. The only fun in it was she got to choose what color to repaint the play ground equipment. She hasn't skipped since. She knows I am serious about her education and doing the right thing.

I believe serving in Oxfam comes pretty low down the list of jobs. It's smelly, dirty and that's just the people who go in there ...
