i keep thinking about hurting myself - cutting, or worse - and it keeps popping into my head and i cant make it go away, but i have no idea what's bothering me. i mean, i know there's something that's built up inside until i feel like i'm going to explode, but i'm not even sure if its that i'm angry or frustrated or something else entirely, and i don't know why cause nothing happened that i'm upset about, and i don't know what to do cause i don't even know what's wrong so how can i fix it?

good move because the first step is ask for help. you are not alone.

But if you need immediate emergency help, it's okay to call 911.

United Way will be listed in the front section of your phone book and by dailing it's number you can get a list of community based resources....like 24 hour hotline numbers and free or low-income based counseling. It's totally confidential and free to use.

use Y! search the web or google.com for hotline numbers (even teen hotline numbers, if you're a teen). local.com can give you hotline numbers in your area. sometimes it just helps to hear another voice, some one that's non-judgmental that can just listen and help you sort through things. that's what hotline numbers are there for.

if you work, your employer probably provides an Employee Assistance Program (EAP or EAR) service toll free number that provides some free counseling and referrals to additional counseling. they can also help you sort through this.

also, check out other Y!A questions in mental health. sometimes you can get good suggestions from those as well.

do you have anyone you can ask about this that can help you get help? family, a friend, a school counselor? make sure that you follow through and get help. many feel the same as you and get help. there is no reason to suffer like this. you will need to get some professional help for these kinds of feelings and thoughts...but help is available.

try these resources above and hang in there. life can get so much better.

First talk to a friend or family member.

If that doesn't help, I would go and see your family doctor. It may be just teenage anxiety and hormones (I don't know how old you are) or it may be depression. If it is depression, be aware that it can come on for no reason in some people. You don't have to be depressed 'about something'.

Treatments include a talking-therapy, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and sometimes anti-depressents.

If it is depression, be guided by what the doctor prescribes as a treatment, not what you feel like doing, since your own feelings can be a bit distorted while you're depressed. Your doctor can tell you how to find a therapist who specialises in Cognitive Behavioual Therapy.

There are plenty of books on Amazon about depression and Cognitive Behavioual Therapy. Read the book descriptions and see whether they are intended for patients or therapists.

If your feeling suicidal or about to harm yourself, don't make any irreversible decisions. Look for a counselling service online or by phone. Just type suicide into google to find them (often their names appear in the adverts on the right) or in the phone book.

I experienced this as well when I was younger (I'm now 29) and realised that I had clinical depression which is considered a disease. My life was fine and indeed I had no reason to feel unhappy, yet I still was and couldn't understand why.

Once I had researched the matter I knew there was a reason for me feeling that way and I was fortunately able to accept that idea and work through it without the need of medical intervention such as mood-stabilising drugs etc.

You mustn't feel bad about having these feelings and you must realise that it is due to something that was outwith your control. However, how you now deal with it is to confront it positively and realise in yourself that you are depressed clinically. Once you have faced that you finally know you have a reason for feeling like that and can begin moving past it. Please feel free to speak to your doctor about it as it is a common illness that can indeed be treated very successfully.

Expand your thinking, take a walk, get out more, stop and smell the roses! Help some one else with their problems. Forgive yourself ,accept responsibility for your own condition, and fix it or accept it and move on! And read, read, read! Only positive input ,please. Shut off the T V also, it sucks out your true emotions and replaces them with whatever you see on the tube. That's why soap operas are on..so people can get an emotional fix without risking their own egos. The thing is ,this will lead to stagnation of your emotional well-being. Live, and dare to fail! this is where the greatest discoveries come from. What? Are you STILL sitting there? Get up and go go go!!!

You are not alone. In order for you to "fix" it, you have to understand it. You know the answer to this question. If you continue to isolate you will not understand. If you are afraid that you cannot afford help, do not worry seek help anyway and you will be referred to a place that will help you. there are people in this world who understand and want to help. The first step is getting help. I have the same problem off and on but this is about you. Does it make sense to give up without at least trying to get help and understanding. What about you helping out another person in the future? Dont give up without trying. My e-mail address is perrin501@yahoo.com. Open the phone book. Take the first step. There is nothing to be embarrased about. Do it as soon as you can. Just call and see. I know it's hard. You let me know if I can help okay babe? You can do it.

What Native American medicine people call evil spirits are often elemental types of beings. There are some that break down
psychic matter so it can be recycled for use again.
They put negative thoughts in our minds. But they are only doing
what they are supposed to do. Resentment and anger are
negative emotions and create negative enrgy which attracts these things.
There are all kinds of communtiy organizations out there where
you can volunteer and meet more positive people. One psychic
said if you think you are under psychic attack. Just go see a
funny movie and laugh your @ss off!

I too have days that I feel that way. I had to have therapy to find my problem. It's strange how little we really know about our selves. Now that you know that something is wrong do something positive with your feelings and find someone to talk to. A professional is usually a good place to start. Your friends mean well, but are way too involved in your life to be any help. The same goes for family. Good luck and god bless

Do you not love yourself? I think deep down you are not happy or ashamed of yourself. Have you been abused before? Either way, you need to talk to a therapist. Or if you can't afford one then go to your nearest book store and read up on self-help books or check it out in your local library. There are many many good books out there that can help you. I did it and help me tremendously. We all have problems in life and we need to deal with it and move on. The past does not make the future if you learn from it and change accordingly. Learn to love yourself. It's hard but you can do it.

You are feeling exactly what I have been feeling lately. Psychiatrist said I have depression....my hubby said I have PMDD(Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder). No matter what, find a shrink to talk about it. Psychiatrist may not help....frankly, see a psychologist! Through talking, they will guide you and find out the reasons behind all these and what's bothering you. I am about to see one. Good luck.
