Hi
I am in a similar situation and we sold our Zafira to buy a VW Sharan. The Zafira is a good car but there is no boot when you have all 7 seats up and it is also quite narrow. With the Sharan you can get three car seats side by side in the middle row which you can't in the Zafira
I am very happy with the Sharan, which is the same as the old shape Galaxy and the Alhambra, but it does not have a brilliant repuation for reliability. However with the new Galaxy/S-Max out there are more second hand ones around. Do get a diesel unless you want dreadful fuel economy.
You might want to look at the Kia Sedona and the Hyundai Trajet. Not so nice to drive but should be reliable and i think the hyundai has a long warranty. The Renault Grand Espace has a bigger boot but I didn't like it when I looked at it - too many gimicky electronics to go wrong.

Hi Mark L, i'm also looking for a seven seater as I am a childminder. Have been given some advice on whats good and whats not so here it is.
Volkswagen Sharan, Vauxhall Zafira, Seat Alhambra and Mitsubishi Space wagon all supposed to be really good.
Avoid the Ford Galaxy, Reanult Espace and anything that might resemble a Toyota!
Good luck!

Basically avoid those where the 6th and 7th seat fold up (like the Renault Megan and Zafira). In these cars the last two seats are only good for kids - and they sit in the boot taking up all the space.
I think the ford S-MAX does have a bit of a boot when the last seats are up - but not a lot.
The Toyota Previa and Kia Sedon are good options but they are very big cars

I drive a New Hyundai Santa Fe 7 seats and its brilliant. has a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty so its extremely reliable. rear seats are easy to fold up and down and enough room for pram with seats up. only out recently so if you after a used one then you will be hard pushed. top of the range has sat nav and a dvd player.
good luck!

If you need bootspace next to the 7 seats you'll have to go grand.
The Renault Grand espace or a chrysler grand voyager will be good options. The renault tends to be a little better thirstwise but both are nice to drive. If you are looking for the chrysler check the stow and go versions the seats fold underneath the floor really easily leaving you with a flat loading floor.

Always go diesel on an MPV, much better residuals.
Seat Alhambra very good, go for one with climate control. Chrysler Voyager very nice to drive, bit costly for service.
Cant go too wrong with a Zafira, or the new Renault Grand Scenic are good value, but avoid the 1.5DCi as it is underpowered

i have had a galaxy in the past and it got me hooked on fords. it is true you get what you pay for. if your pram is one of those folding buggy types you will get it in the back but not alot else. there isnt a massive amount of room when all the seats are in use but it is a fab car

Try Vauxhall sintra (check sp?) they are like zafira's but bigger and usually 3lt engine so not that economical. I have a zafira and I love it, there are 7 of us but I have a double buggy which is so big it barely fits with back seats down!! I guess a small buggy would fit somewhere? but yeah, try my 1st suggestion. x
