I really need to know because I don't want my legs to be any bigger, I do step aerobics that's fast and low impact for about 45 minutes, no heavy resistance or any of that sort, I do that because I want to make my legs slimmer. But now my muscle legs (thighs) hurt and are sore, what does that mean? I don't want my legs to become bigger, I want them slimmer.

P.S. There was 15 minute stretch exercise after, so I'm positive I stretched. Will my leg muscles get bigger or did I just do it too much?

Your legs should only hurt for the first week or two. That's because they are not used to exercising on that muscle. After that if they still hurt its because your doing the exercise wrong. Make sure your are correctly doing each exercise. You'll gain or lose more if things are done correctly.

Good luck and remember when you exercise a new muscle its going to hurt for the first couple of weeks - hang in there.

**this is assuming that your in good health already. In other words, no hurt joints, no previous broken bones, no health problems and so on. Your age might have a little factor too.

your legs hurt, simply becos they're not used to the exercise (over-exercise) that they are getting now. believe me, its very normal cos your muscles are now being worked out more than they are used to. even though u do warm-up stretches before AND after, your muscles are still being stressed. the pain definitely takes a few days to resolve so you should go for your next lesson after 2-3 days, at least. the pain does get lesser with more regular sessions. but i warn you, the muscles woud get firmer after some time, making it look bigger. i know, cos ive been through it

The pain after exercise is usually the contracting and relaxing of the muscle. But any exercise you do is going to build muscle to an extent.

the pain is the muscle breaking down to rebuild. It's normal for a muscle to be sore if not used all the time

squats, cycling, sprinting (better ffective than walking) leaping up from the squating posittion as intense as you could. olympic and skill weight lifting might want to be efficient too, yet those are better technical and also you'll surely reason better damage than solid without solid technique
