The natural desire is to be "released" from your anxiety. You want the feeling to stop. "cutting" to some, releases that tension. Not really, but it gives them the feeling of "relief" likes it's just pouring out of them. They/you, need to see a counselor, because the cutting isn't really do anything but causing harm to your body, but it's giving the perception that it's helping. Now you will still have anxiety, and cuts to go with it.

Anxiety is a strong feeling. Being Depressed can as well.
The feeling of being so overwhemed, and cant cope with what is goig on around you or in your head is scary.
sumtimes you feel have to cut or hurt yourself to releif the feelings you are eprienceing.
I hope you can let some one in to help and listen to you.

Yes, but there is usually some sort of deeper problem. I used to cut myself, it was just kind of a vent for me. My parents finally got so outdone that they took me to see a shrink, and I was diagnosed with severe depression. I recommend you seek professional help, because cutting can leave scars, both physically and mentally. Trust me, I have my own.

Maybe. But in this case, depression with superimposed anxiety is more probable, I think. If this behavior is perceived to be "attention-seeking", a personality disorder should also be considered.

I don't think anxiety alone would cause someone to do that, it is probably is more serious form of depression.
