They can be. I remember watching "Blue Peter" on TV as a child when they did an outside broadcast from Durham Cathedral and were going on about the "lovely set of Knockers"! (They had replaced the original one with a replica that they were demonstrating due to too much wear and tear from tourists).
In another programme shortly afterwards the same presenter said there was "nothing he liked better than watching a pair of **** in the garden" during a wildlife section.
I think he got the sack ...

As mark says, door knobs CAN be funny, many have a twist in them, but some are very dirty because they are handled too much and never cleaned with a stiff wire brush!!!
