In Judaism women are often the superior actually.
Actually, according to Jewish law, there is meant to be peace in ones household, and therefore one has to respect his wife! It is written in the scriptures! Women in Judaism are not treated like inferiors at all! I hope I have answered your question! Be well :-)

A lot of these women are *happy*. Very happy. I'm not saying all of them but many of them just want nothing more than to take care of the household and they like being *protected* by the menfolk. Who are we to say that's wrong? I bet there are loads of women in the "free world" who would actually, secretly, love to stay at home, not work, look after the kids and the house while the man goes out to work and brings home the money. Theyre just afarid to say it in case some feminist woman attacks them and tells them that it's a sexist, old fashioned attitude and that theyre a disgrace to womankind. These days the media tells us we have to "have it all". Not only that, but we have to *want* to "have it all" and if we're not managing our own multi-million companies, juggling twelve children, and having mind blowing s*x every night, then we're failing somehow. I have to admit the thing I am most envious of is happiness. If these women are happy, then good for them, is that not what we're all chasing?
If you watch Coronation Street there was a carachter called Cilla. She was ugly, she was fat but she thought she was fantastic and she had a man who told her she was gorgeous every five minutes. I announced one day that I'd love to be her and my boyfriend looked at me like I'd grown another head. What?! I explained it to him. Quite simply, she's happy.

I think they are not allowed study of the Talmud within orthodox Judaism. I believe some prayers and functions are based around males only. As far as anything else not sure. Pretty sure there are no female rabbis.

if you want to learn about women in judaism the best place is to read an orthodox web site's "women" category. try this one:

http://www.chabad.org/theJewishWoman/default.asp?AID=313386

you will probably read stuff you will find nice, and you will probably also read stuff that you won't agree with.
