I use to have pretty bad depression, i went to couselling etc but none of it helped. I just kind of got through it, But every now and again i get really upset, worse that I did when I had depression. Is this just happening because i'm not fully recovered? Or is this something new?

My friend went through the same sort of thing and she recently got diagnosed with Bipolar

Counselling was bullshit, my therapist spent the whole time telling me about his wife and his sex life.

I've been on anti depressants, my doctor put me on them for a few months and then took me off them, they kinda worked.

Counseling is great as it helps us to look at problems and it also helps us to look at life situations in a more positive effective way, but some folks don't have issues, yet are depressed. That is because this is a physical disorder. They recently found that the reason it takes weeks for antidepressent drugs to work wasn't that they were balancing chemicals, they were actually growing new receptor cells to act on those chemicals. Sooooo if you haven't tried medication it may be worth a try. Also, if you think you may be bipolar then you need to talk to your doctor about it before trying antidepressents alone as they can cause problems if you take them alone and you are truly bipolar. Do you have times of extreme energy and happiness when you are not sleeping hardly at all? Do you have spending or sex spree's or urges to have them that you have to really fight? If you stay up most of the night during those periods, do you still feel well and function the next day? The sleep thing is huge. Normal folks can't miss sleep routinely and still feel fine and function well the next day for any length of time. Good luck.
Oh, almost forgot, not all antidepressent medications work on all people. You have to keep working to find the right one at the right dose. I take two different ones at the same time and also have had the doses upped several times.

Sounds like you need a new counselor !Depression is something that just don't do away. You need medication and good counseling . Many people are bipolar or depressive. You must find the right medication for you . With the right doctor you will find help and see that you can lead a happy productive life. Hang in there.

it could be, but bipolar usally has a manic phase connected to it as well. it depends on what "upset" means to you...it could possibly be an anxeity disorder???
i am not qualified to make that diagnosis. you should talk to someone. just because it didnt help in the past doesnt mean it won't help. it takes time to find the right counciler. I have had good luck with clinical social workers verus psychologist as far as therapy goes, but if you end up needing medication you will still need a psychatrist. in my experience the best results come when you can get a good counciler and doctor to work togther.

your counsellor shouldnt be talking about himself in your sessions I hope you didnt pay for that and if you did get a refund!!!!

Find someone that you really trust and feel comfortable with and most importantly has your best interest at heart!
