I am currently in China holding Chinese RMB (cash). I will be traveling to Bangkok next week. Can I exchange the RMB for Thai baht in Thailand?

Yes you can. You can change at the airport, or at almost any bank counter in the cities.

In Bangkok, several banks have exchange booths opened downtown. They also used to have minivans with an exchange booth inside in many commercial areas (such as Central World Trade) but I am not sure they still do that.

You should be... and what.. umm.. get roughly four & half times..
(approx exchange rate is 1Renminbi = 4.6 Baht)

But am not sure why one should travel with a lesser denominated currency.. A EURO/ GBP or USD has more acceptablity..

Unless ofcourse the double conversion "hits" you on the exchange rate offered.. 5-8% charges are steep at times

In so far as I know, the markets in downtown Thai cities would have people who convert..

At Chiang Mai airport, at the lower level (one) there are some merchandise outlets or even a Forex counter .. close to the place you come out of customs.. beyond the green channel exit(nothing dutiable to declare etc.)
