I have got this problem too, but i can be foriven, coz im a professional chatline girl, but for you, i guess you would have to roughen our voice so that you can aviod going into such situations, or hang u the call if you are uncomfortable.

The people who talk to you very often, are in fact providing you an opportunity to rehearse & practise. This shall shrpenthe skill to modulate the voice. You should not mind people liking it, anyway.
If people are trying to make a fun of it, you must be firm and stop entertaining such people.
