I been doing it all my life , it is out of boredom and stress,
it hurts like mad the next morning ,that is only until i start again
During my career in the peace keeping forces with the UN in Africa ,natives of the country, gave me a home made gum ,i don't know what it was made of it had a taste like a beetroot, after chewing on that for 3 /4 Minuit's
,i would not bite the in side of my mouth again for the rest of the day, which was fantastic,
A ordinary gum will do it for me ,but need to chew on it all day to stop biting , rather have a jaw ache than spit blood,

I don't do it because of nerves (atleast I dont think so). I do it for a more gross and discussing reason. I love the pain of tering the top skin off the sides of my inner mouth and I LOVE the taste of the blood. I like chewing on the skin and seeing how much I can tear off. I dont think its nerves cause I do it when I am really calm. I think we all are masocistic in our own ways and inflict pain on ourselves just to feel what its like. REMEMBER... there is a thin line between pain and pleasure!

A lot of people may say it's nerves or something but I've noticed that I only do it when I'm running low on iron. Try eating some red meat, I bet you'll stop it for a while! It is defo a sign of iron/protein deficiency.

Because we got told off for chewing outr nails when we were kids! Its a habit you do without realising it when you're tense, under stress or concentrating; its the same reason some people chew gum.

your mouth will heal very quickly. attempt rinsing with salt water . It won't make it sting. you may easily merely depart it on my own and in an afternoon or 2 it is going to be long previous. FYI-burning the roof of your mouth is poor, too! experience greater useful!

I do it because of stress. When I get supper stressed out, I will bite the inside of my cheek while I sleep at night, and sometimes while I am at work, I mostly don't realise I am doing it unitl a caloused ridge forms on the inside of my cheek, then I end up biting it out of bordom.
Mostly it is unintentional and I almost never realize I am doing it.

I tend to do it if I am concentrating or am nervous about something. Funnily enough I always do it the night before the dentist, dread to think what she must think of the state of inside my mouth. I also pull the skin from my lips if they start to crack, it kills me but I can't stop doing it. Help!

It's a nervous habit and they tend not to be aware they are doing it even. I know as I have been told I'm doing it sometimes! Not recomended as you can get ulcers if you chew too hard!

it's a comfort thing. like a pacifier. but if it's done enough and causes permanently raised skin tissue, then you have to watch later to make sure that cancer is not overlooked. regular oral exams should be done.
